DIAMOND SHAPES
Craftsmanship really begins when the first cleave is made on the diamond rough. This determines everything, it affects the brilliance, the shape and the final make of the diamond. We will always take our time to listen and understand our clients and the personality of the intended owner of the diamond.
Seen here is a very unique Cushion cut Diamond flanked by two half moon diamonds on a curved white gold band encrusted in Diamonds, another Canary Diamond Original.
We ask 3 questions.
- Has she hinted to you what she likes (Skip to next section, you know what to do)?
- What kind of person she is? Artistic? (Marquise or Oval Shapes), an Architect? (Emerald, Assher Cut, Marquise), Classic or simple (Round or Cushion), completely unconventional ( Yellow Diamonds or even a Blue Sapphire) or a hopeless romantic ? (Heart shape or Old mine cut diamond)
- Which shape appeals to you and why do you like the shape? Rounds and cushions are a safe bet. If you like something extraordinary, consider the assher cut or Marquise shapes? These are the least common diamond shapes. Fancy Shapes are usually cut around the inclusions or shape of a rough to maximize the yield of a diamond. There is usually a premium on a Round Brilliant diamond as there is usually more wastage in cutting an Excellent cut diamond.
